About
Get to Know Stefan Strek!
There's one consistent review people have about Stefan Strek, “He's a good guy.” In architecture, a “Strek” is the irregularly-shaped stone at the center of an arch, which holds the structure together. Stefan lives up to this name by supporting and connecting people from all over the world. Stefan grew up in Eugene, and has spent time living in Australia, France and Amsterdam, always taking note of how cities enhance personal enrichment for people.
At 33, he believes there's something more to life, for each of us, that everyone can discover with the right environment.
His education includes a CAM in Business Management, AAOT in Art, CIE for French and a BA in Art. When asked why he's running for Mayor, “I love this City and believe in our community.” is what he says, and means every word. As an artist, and painter, Stefan sees Eugene like a piece of art in progress, something built to stand the Test of Time, with each citizen being part of the bigger picture.
Strek wants to protect and expand library funding. He believes we can cut wasteful expenditures and efficiently enhance public enrichment.
The vision of Eugene as a 21st Century City includes a 24hr bus system to reduce drunk driving deaths, promote new business investment, create new jobs, and generate commercial activity. An invigorated urban canopy. Public events to attract tourism and promote the economy. Allowing Seniors to have tax-credits for home repair so that quality living is affordable for people on fixed-incomes, and to protect Seniors within UGB expansions by freezing their tax rates at pre-expansion levels.
